N’Golo Kante Fenerbahce talks are underway after the Turkish giants submitted an official offer to sign the France international from Al-Ittihad in a bid to bring him back to European football this winter.
Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncioglu reports Fenerbahce officials are set to meet with Kante’s agent in the coming days to begin formal negotiations. The N’Golo Kante Fenerbahce move represents an ambitious attempt by the Istanbul club to secure one of world football’s most decorated midfielders.
The 34-year-old World Cup winner has his contract with Al-Ittihad expiring in June 2026, putting several European clubs on high alert. L’Equipe reports Fenerbahce want to convince Kante to join Istanbul this winter without waiting for his deal to expire.

However, Al-Ittihad still hope to extend Kante’s contract by a further year. The Saudi club have not given up on keeping the midfielder, who has been a crucial figure since joining on a free transfer from Chelsea in June 2023 on a three-year deal.
Kante has made 13 appearances this season in the Saudi Pro League, scoring one goal. Over his time at Al-Ittihad, he has played 100 matches, scoring nine goals and providing 10 assists.
Fenerbahce have already secured Matteo Guendouzi from Lazio this winter for €28 million plus €2 million in add-ons. The N’Golo Kante Fenerbahce pursuit shows the club’s intent to build a squad capable of competing for major honours under manager Jose Mourinho.
L’Equipe reports Kante has not responded favorably to Al-Ittihad’s first contract extension approaches, opening the door for potential suitors. French clubs and English sides have also shown interest in securing his signature.
Kante won the Premier League twice, the Champions League, FA Cup, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup during his illustrious career. He was part of France’s 2018 World Cup-winning squad and remains a key player for Les Bleus.
What Else?
The midfielder’s next move will prove crucial with the 2026 World Cup approaching this summer. Regular playing time at a competitive level would boost his chances of featuring prominently in France’s squad.
It remains unlikely Kante will leave Al-Ittihad this month given the club’s determination to retain him, but the Turkish transfer window remains open until February, giving Fenerbahce time to negotiate.
